In our family it has always been a tradition to open just one gift the night before Christmas. I remember doing this as a young girl and it is always a favorite childhood memory of Christmas. So, now that I have a family of my own, my husband and I decided to pass this tradition along to our own kids. Every year on Christmas Eve our kids get to open one present each. In the past we've always given them brand new pajamas (you know, so they look cute on Christmas morning!), but this year I think we are going to try something new. Welcome the Christmas Eve Surprise Box!
As I have two boys, I've decided to separate the contents into two boxes, though many items will be shared! And, many items are things from around the house. For instance, I tucked away some things we already had a few weeks ago so they'll be "like new" when we open the box!

Contents can vary but here are a few suggestions for fun night of movies, games, and holiday fun:
- New pajamas
- Special Christmas socks
- Family movie to watch Christmas eve
- Popcorn
- Hot Cocoa
- Christmas book to read before bedtime
- New ornament for the tree
- Family games to play like Appletters or Uno (or whatever a family favorite may be!)
- Ingredients to make Reindeer Food to sprinkle on the lawn
The ideas are endless! Having a box of fun will definitely help get the kids worn out so they'll be ready for a good night's sleep! (Or one can only hope!)
